We all have innate wisdom about what is best for us, but it can be easy to lose sight of that. Life starts to feel like it is happening TO us. You might cycle between feeling powerless, lost, and even shameful. My role is to help show you that there are no bad parts, only parts that no longer serve you.

My clients are curious, creative and passionate people, but trauma, big life transitions and loss, and ongoing stressors have left them feeling depressed, anxious, stuck in rumination, and grappling with their identities. There is a lot of guilt and shame for the ways in which you “should” be or for the ways in which you feel it’s your fault bad things have happened to you. My client’s believe they need to just “try harder.” For these reasons, I work well with teens up to middle-aged folks that have a traumatic history, especially surrounding family and relationships.

I offer a space where you can feel validated in your experiences, while also gaining the energy to change things and step into your autonomy. I use parts work where I help you to get curious about your internal world. With Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, we will get clarity on your values, thought and behavior patterns, and where you actually need to try LESS hard. And above all else, we will laugh together.  The specific modalities and frameworks I use are:

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Strengths-based approach

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Harm reduction for behavior (self-harm, substance use, etc.)

We will always be looking at larger systems (justice, oppression, etc) and how you’re being impacted by them. There is a careful balance between taking ownership of your stuff and recognizing the pitfalls of the systems. I offer a safe place for various identities such as those within the LGBTQIA+, kink/ENM/poly communities, and anyone that appreciates freedom in fluidity. As a queer and neurodiverse therapist myself, I am also committed to my own ongoing therapeutic healing.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) (N.C. license number: P021729) under the weekly supervision of Hunter Waldrop, MSW, LCSW (N.C. license number: C014442). I offer virtual sessions (North Carolina residents), as well as in-person and walk-and-talks in the Asheville area.
