Counseling is such meaningful and rewarding work and I am so grateful that I get to do it. I am constantly inspired by the courage, resiliency, and strength that I get to witness in the clients I serve. My work teaches me more every day about what it means to be human and since I started counseling in 2014, that has never stopped exciting me. It is a true honor to be invited into the parts of people’s lives that they rarely show to others. My goal is to always be growing as a person right alongside you and to always approach my work with a sense of openness and curiosity rather than judgment. After all, we’re just two humans talking about being human. My hope is that you can learn to further embrace your humanness and leave behind your shame in the process.

While conventional talk therapy can be extremely valuable, I recognize that there are some problems that talk therapy can’t quite reach, which is why I typically use a more experiential, mindfulness-based approach to counseling that focuses on the ways in which your beliefs, your emotions, and your trauma are playing out in real time. Trauma is a key area of focus in my clinical work and I am especially passionate about helping clients heal from sexual trauma. I believe survivors. I also believe in post-traumatic growth, which means that people can not only take back what trauma took from them, but also transform their trauma into a powerful source of transformation and growth. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. I also incorporate techniques from many other modalities, including  Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and others.

I try to be as well-rounded in my clinical work as I can. Much of my experience thus far has been with children, adolescents, and families and that continues to be a part of the work I do. I also really enjoy working with couples and pull primarily from an attachment-based perspective (Emotionally Focused Therapy) in my couples work. I am a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist and consider addictions to be an important part of all counseling work. I also enjoy working with dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder.

As a founding member of Your Next Chapter Counseling, I feel very honored to be a part of a wonderful team of clinicians that is dedicated to providing inclusive, culturally-competent, and respectful care to the diverse needs within our community. I am LGBQIA and trans affirming. I am committed to anti-racism, feminism, and developing a deeper understanding of the ways in which privilege has shaped my life and worldview.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy traveling, reading, gardening, hiking, playing board games, and spending time with my three daughters.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you’d like a (free) consultation so you can figure out if I might be a good fit for you
