Maegan Brown

LCMHC
She/Her/Hers

Ever find yourself repeating the same unhealthy patterns over and over again? Reading all of the blogs, listening to all the podcasts, memorizing Brené Brown quotes? Feeling like part of you “knows” something, while another part “feels” differently? “I know I shouldn’t allow people to treat me this way, but I feel like if I speak up, they’ll leave me.”

Most of what we struggle with today comes from beliefs we developed long ago - beliefs that may have protected us, or helped us make sense of our world at that time. Sometimes these beliefs create a pattern of behavior that is no longer helpful. I utilize a variety of approaches, two of which are EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and IFS (Internal Family Systems). I work with clients to access their core negative beliefs, identify a positive adaptation, and update their internal operating system in order to function outside of, and move past their trauma.

I work with older adolescents and adults needing help with:

-Anxiety

-Perfectionism (“do-ers”)

-Trauma (single incident and complex)

-Attachment style and implications

-Incongruence between value systems and choices

-Chronic negative belief patterns

My hope is to work alongside my clients and help create the space they need to find their own answers. I am body positive, LGBQIA and Trans affirming, I believe the voices of the victim, I believe black lives matter, and I believe in our innate ability to heal.
